Frequently Asked Questions
Our Story & Mission
Who is behind Nature is Dope.?
Nature is Dope. was founded by Bend, Oregon local Erik Kerr (Hi, that's me) — the name grew from a trailside joke into a purpose-driven apparel company that you now see today. But it's not just me. The brand is built around a collective of outdoor-loving artists and creatives, many of them Bend locals, brought together through years of trail conversations, campfire stories, and chairlift friendships. We like to call it Friends > Freelancers.
What does Nature is Dope. actually stand for?
Pretty simple: we believe nature is worth protecting, worth celebrating, and worth wearing on your chest. This started from a belief that what you wear should mean something — that doing right by not just the planet, but also people and artists shouldn't be the exception in the apparel industry. Every choice that's made - the materials, the artists, the suppliers, the packaging — flows from that belief.
Where are you based?
Born and rooted in Bend, Oregon — one of the best backyards on earth! Our print, packaging, and shipping all happens here in Oregon too through an independent, woman-owned and run print partner who shares our values. Our roots are Oregon, but our branches (and our customers) are everywhere.
Is this an AI-generated brand?
Hard no. Every design comes from a real human artist — someone with a name, a story, and a genuine connection to the outdoors. We're loud about this because we believe it matters. When you buy a piece, you're supporting a real person's creative work, not a prompt. No AI art, no faceless contractors, no shortcuts.
Sustainability
What materials do you use — and why does it matter?
Every garment is made from one of two material paths: GOTS-certified 100% organic cotton — the highest global standard for organic textiles, covering everything from farming to final processing — or fully recycled materials, giving existing fibers a second life. Sustainable materials are not a bonus here, but the foundation. We don't offer a "sustainable line" alongside the conventional stuff — it's all made this way.
What inks do you print with?
Every piece is printed using water-based inks that are OEKO-TEX® certified — meaning they've been tested and verified to be free of harmful substances. No plastisol, no PVC, no nasty stuff on your skin or in the waste stream.
What about packaging?
100% recycled post-consumer packaging. We're not going to send you something beautiful wrapped in something wasteful.
Do you plant trees?
We don't ourselves (yet!). But One Tree Planted, an amazing organization, does. Every garment you purchase funds real reforestation work through our partnership with One Tree Planted, a non-profit focused on global reforestation. Not carbon offsets (which we do that too through some of our garments!) — actual trees, planted where they're needed most. It's our thank you to the places that keep us going.
How do you ensure fair labor in your supply chain?
We deliberately choose independently owned suppliers who share our commitment to fair pay and safe working conditions. We're not cutting corners to hit a lower price point. Where and who we source from matters to us as much as what the garment is made of.
The Art & The Artists
Who designs the artwork on the clothes?
A collective of real, independent artists — many of them based in and around Bend — who came together through years of friendships and creative collaborations. You'll find each artist's name on their product pages, and a dedicated section of the website introduces our partner artists. You can even shop the store by artist category. No anonymous contractors. They're people with names, faces, and stories.
Do the artists get paid?
Yes - the artists share in the brand's success. Every artist in our collective participates in a profit-sharing model and, crucially, retains ownership of their work. Their name is attached to every product they designed. If you're buying a piece, you're directly supporting that artist. We think that's how it should work.
Can I submit my artwork to be considered?
We love to hear from fellow outdoor-loving creatives. While our current artist roster is built on existing friendships and collaborations, we're always open to connecting with like-minded artists. Reach out at info@natureisdope.earth and tell us about yourself and your work.

Shipping
Where do you ship?
We currently ship throughout the United States and Canada.
How long does it take to receive my order?
We're a small but scrappy team! Most orders are fulfilled in approximately 7 business days and then transit typically takes another 3–5 business days depending on your location. You'll receive a shipping confirmation with tracking info as soon as your order is on its way. Processing times may be slightly longer during high-volume periods or new collection launches.
How can I track my order?
Once your order ships, you'll receive a confirmation email with a tracking number. You can use that to follow your package directly through the carrier's website.
What if my package arrives damaged or doesn't show up?
That's on us to fix. If your order arrives damaged, email us a photo at info@natureisdope.earth and we'll get a replacement out. If your package is marked delivered but you don't have it, give it 48 hours (carriers sometimes scan early), then reach out and we'll investigate and make it right.
Do you offer free shipping?
Shipping rates are calculated at checkout based on your location and order size and we occasionally run free shipping promotions.
Returns & Exchanges
What is your return policy?
We accept returns on unworn, unwashed items in original condition within 21 days of delivery. To start a return, email us at info@natureisdope.earth with your order number and reason for returning. Items marked as final sale or purchased at a significant discount are not eligible for return.
Can I exchange for a different size or color?
Yes — sizing exchanges are something we want to make easy, because we know fit matters. Email us at info@natureisdope.earth within 21 days of receiving your order and we'll walk you through the process. Exchanges are subject to availability.
How long does it take to process a refund?
Once we receive and inspect your return, refunds are processed within 7-10 business days back to your original payment method. Your bank or card provider may take a few additional days to post the credit.
Who pays for return shipping?
For standard returns (change of mind or sizing), the customer is responsible for the shipping fee. If the return is due to a defect or our error in the product, we'll cover it — no question.
Sizing & Garment Care
How do your garments fit — true to size?
Generally yes, though it can vary slightly by style. If you're between sizes or unsure, our general recommendation is to size up for a slightly looser, more comfortable fit — especially for hoodies and crewnecks. Still not sure? Email us and we'll help.
Will organic cotton shrink in the wash?
Organic cotton can experience shrinkage with the first wash, which is totally normal. To preserve both the fit and the print, we recommend washing cold inside out, tumble drying low or hanging to dry, and avoiding high heat — it's rough on water-based prints and organic fibers both. Treat it right and it'll last a long time. That's kind of the point.
Are the prints durable — will they crack or fade?
Our water-based, OEKO-TEX certified inks are specifically chosen for both their safety and their staying power. With proper care (cold wash, low heat, inside out), the prints hold up really well over time. That said, all prints will show some natural wear with time and heavy use — that's just the honest truth with any garment.
What sizes do you carry?
We currently offer sizes S through XXL.
